Tierra de Amani takes its name from TIERRA, meaning "LAND" in Spanish, and AMANI, meaning "PEACE" in Swahili (official language of Tanzania). By using both languages in one name, we try to bring both cultures closer together. Tierra de Amani is a non-religious organisation, and yet open and respectful to all forms of religion.
TIERRA DE AMANI was founded in 2005 with the following aims:
►TO fundraise and support under-privileged children in Tanzania.
►TO increase awareness on the harsh living conditions of street children and orphans in Tanzania, and the type of support which can be provided to help them.
►TO create a cultural bond between Spain and Tanzania.
►TO facilitate access to education amongst African children.
►TO financially support children homes for orphans and street children. Tierra de Amani is presently concentrating its efforts on the Home for Street Children and Orphans “Kilimanjaro Centre", based in Moshi, Northen Tanzania.
►TO care for children living with HIV/Aids; the help is extended to their families, specially women who have been pushed aside by their families for being HIV positive. We offer a holistic approach, providing not only financial and healthcare support, but also psycho-social support.
Through the achievement of the above mentioned aims, Tierra de Amani hopes to build a more harmonious and peaceful world. Small acts of kindness offered by many different people can make a big change.
